Our system

A unique approach to an age-old problem

A prefabricated, permeable block panel system that achieves 50% greater distribution than other systems.

Built to do more in less ground

The T&J Panel System was designed to overcome the challenges faced by today’s wastewater agencies, builders and developers looking for a better way to treat wastewater. Through decades of research, testing and engineering, we believe we have developed the most advanced, hassle-free onsite wastewater treatment system in its class.

T&J Panels are manufactured in house, using a proprietary aggregate and a patented chemical process.

Panel benefits

Increased capacity

Because each block panel works as a temporary holding tank, overall capacity is nearly three times greater than conventional stone and pipe trench systems. Think of it as a network of miniature septic tanks spread through the drain field, not just holding the effluent but treating it before releasing it to the soil.

Our manufacturing process heat-treats the blocks, which creates thousands of micro-pores in each granule of aggregate. The result is a hyper-permeable surface that filters and stores effluent and increases the surface area for biochemical and microbial treatment. That porosity multiplies storage and hydraulic load capacity well beyond standard gravel and pipe.

The result is a substantial reduction in the line length required, and a much smaller drain field.

Cleaner output

In a block panel system, each panel serves as an individual pretreatment unit over and above the septic tank itself. In the T&J Panel system, the engineered block matrix, an integral geotextile fabric and the surrounding sand work together to create a highly aerobic environment, ideal for treating wastewater by filtration and absorption as well as chemical and microbial transformation.

This multi-step treatment produces pretreated effluent that percolates more readily into the natural soil and prevents harmful biomat growth from clogging the soil interface over time.

Peace of mind

No one wants to install a wastewater system only to have issues a few years later. Because onsite wastewater is a regulated industry, our life expectancy data comes directly from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and is limited to available data on failed systems. Based on NCDHHS data, our systems last 45 years on average, and that doesn’t count systems still in operation.

Every failed system we have inspected was the result of the wrong sand being used to envelop the system, or of grease and other contaminants going down the drain that are incompatible with any septic system.

When properly designed and installed, the T&J Panel system is a maintenance-free onsite wastewater solution that will outlast every other system in its class.

Best engineering practices for parallel distribution

Distribution methodLine lengths from point of introduction
Low PressureOver 85 feet
Pressure ManifoldUp to 85 feet
Gravity FlowUp to 67 feet
These design parameters are best engineering practices, allowing for the variability of conditions on site. For example, 370 ft lines with good fall may still consider gravity flow with a standard D-box. Longer lines can be center fed or multi-fed to keep a given distribution method: a 100 ft line fed from the center has line lengths of only 50 ft from the point of introduction. These practices do not apply to serial distribution.
